Basic Course Information
Prerequisites:Math 243 with a grade point of 2.000 or better.
Course Description:
A continuation of Math 243. Includes a study of multiple integration and partial derivatives.

Class Protocol:
Attendance is required, but will not be factored into students' grades. If students are not present, they will not be able to complete the activities that correspond to that day's discussion and work in class. Students are asked to be on time, and to notify the instructor if they will be absent. They are asked to observe common norms of civility in class and in interactions with the instructor and with classmates outside of class.

Course Content:Graded coursework will cover chapters 12-16 of the required text listed above.
Assignments and Coursework:
The coursework for this class will be divided into four categories.
WebAssign Homework (20%):
Online homework problems will be assigned for each section of the book that we cover in class. The homework is to be completed at the WebAssign web page. Online Assignments will be preliminarily due at the end of the week, and ultimately due at the end of the semester (midnight on Study Day).
In-Class Quizzes (25%):
Timed quizzes will be given throughout the semester. Questions on the quizzes will be similar to WebAssign homework problems and examples presented during lectures. These quizzes will be open-book/open-notes. Calculators and electronic devices will usually not be allowed.
Semi-comprehensive Miderm Exam (25%):
The midterm exam will be administered in class. It will cover material from all sections of the text that have been covered up to the date of the exam. The midterm exam must be taken at the scheduled time.
Comprehensive Final Exam (30%):
The final exam will cover material from the entire semester. The final exam must be taken during the scheduled final exam period determined by the university. See below.
Grading:
Students' final letter grades will be calculated according to the following table. Final percentage grades will not be rounded up, and there will be no extra credit.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:|
a.) Define and calculate dot products, cross products,
derivatives and integrals of vector functions, arc length and curvature
of space curves and other appropriate properties of vector functions.
b.) Define and calculate partial derivatives of functions of one or more variables. c.) Define and calculate multiple integrals in appropriate coordinate systems, including volumes and surface area. d.) Calculate quantities appropriate to vector calculus, including line and surface integrals, using the tools of vector calculus such as Green's Theorem, Stokes' Theorem and the Divergence Theorem. |

Definition of a Credit Hour:
Success in this three-credit-hour course is based on the expectation that students will spend, for each unit of credit, a minimum of forty-five (45) hours over the length of the course (normally three hours per unit per week, with one of the hours used for lecture) for instruction and preparation/studying or course related activities for a total of 135 hours. Concealed Carry Policy:
The Kansas Legislature has legalized concealed carry on public university campuses. Midterm and Final Exam Dates
The midterm exam will be given on Thursday, 7 March (Section 23082), and Friday, 8 March (Section 26191). Students must be present on this date. If you have a conflict with this date, contact me ASAP.As per the University's final exam schedule, the final exam for this class will be on Tuesday, 14 May from 11:00-12:50 (Section 23082), and Wednesday, 15 May from 9:00-10:50 (Section 26191). The final exam will be administered in our usual classroom.
