Teaching assistantships and fellowships are available for qualified students in the Mathematics and Statistics graduate program. Currently, most full-time students receive financial support. The department has several teaching fellowships for students in the Ph.D. program. These require teaching one 5-hour course per semester and pay stipends ranging from $15,000 to $17,000 for the academic year. (All stipend levels are for the 2007-08 academic year.)
Regular teaching assistantships, available to students in both the M.S. and Ph.D. programs require teaching one 5-hour course or two three hour courses per semester and pay $13,200 to $14,000 spread over 9 months. Additional summer teaching is available with additional stipends of up to $3,500.
